Evaluation of Webquest

This week, we are evaluating the Webquest. I chose a Webquest that is about Albert Einstein. I am going to evaluate that according to Webquest Rubric. You can look at here. I hope this will be useful for you.

Overall Aesthetics

  • Overall Visual Appeal

Firstly, I am going to look at visuality of Webquest project. At this Webquest project, the pictures and colors used relevantly with each other and each page has a picture about the topic. The visuality of the webquest is important for readers. Therefore, I give 4 points for this section.

  • Navigation and Flow

It is clear to move one page to another for learner beacuse every page is understandable. Therefore, I give 4 points for this section.

  • Mechanical Aspects

There are some links at process part and conclusion part. But none of them are working. All of the links are broken so I give 0 point for this section.

Introduction

  • Motivational Effectiveness of Introduction
The introduction relates somewhat to the learners interests. The teacher wrote a factual knowledge about Albert Einstein but there is no appealing or related question about Albert Einstein. Therefore I give 1 point out of 2.

  • Cognitive Effectiveness of the Introduction

This part of Introduction gives some reference to learner's prior knowledge. It has a poor effect on the reader or learner so I give 1 point out of 2.

Task

  • Connection of Task to Standards

This part of Webquest, I give 4 points because it is clearly clarified in detail. The learners are responsibilty for creating a project and they must share their new knowledge on Powerpoint or Poster.

  • Cognitive Level of the Task

Each student is also required to present their topic in the class. It is doable and engaging. It will be beneficial and useful for students. For these reasons I give 6 points for this part of Webquest.

Process

  • Clarity of Process

There aren't enough information in this section. The students might be get confused. Therefore I give 2 points out of 4.

  • Scaffolding of Process

There is no clue of scaffolding so I give 0 point out of 6.

  • Richness of Process

There is no enough steps so I give 0 point out of 6.

Resources

  • Relevance & Quantity of Resources

There are numbers of resources every of whose aim is different. Therefore I give 4 points out of 4.

  • Quality of Resources

There are beneficial resources related to topic. Therefore I give 4 points out of 4.

Evaluation

Clarity of Evaluation Criteria

The evaluation instrument clearly measures what students must know and be able to do to accomplish to task. Therefore I give 6 points out of 6.

Total score is: 34/50

It was very challenging and boring. It took a lot of time. But at the end I enjoyed it and I will use it in my career.

About Wiki

Hello My Friends!

This week we lernt something called Wiki. I prepared my favourite book project on a Wiki. This is my first experience on a Wiki page and talking about a book. Firstly, I had difficulty in choosing a book.

Making some different project for EFL learners is beneficial. But in my country, it is difficult to use such a project but I will try it in the future.

I prepared this podcast with my friend Osman Karakaya. This was a perfect experience for us. We had some troubles at first. We hardly find a quite place to record our voices.

I think podcast is a effective and funny way of teaching language and our podcast will be useful.
